Abstract
1519644 Mixing apparatus ENGINEERING TECHNICAL SERVICES Ltd 19 Oct 1976 [9 Sept 1975] 37089/75 Heading B1C An apparatus for circulating and gasifying a body of liquid 10 comprises a tortuous passage extending longitudinally through an open ended tube 13 and a gas bubble generator 15 disposed at the lower end of the tube, the passage being defined by the tube wall and a number of flat vanes 16a and 16b. The vanes may be provided at the lower portion only of the tube (Fig. 4 not shown). The vanes 16a and 16b may form dihedral angles of 30 and 45 respectively. Each tube comprises a central column 14 to which the vanes are secured and in which holes 15 of the bubble generator are disposed. Non- return valves may be provided in the openings. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 5 not shown), the vanes are secured to a sleeve (14a) releasably secured to the central column by a bayonet connection. Gas is passed downwardly through the central column and passes through openings 15 in both the central column and the sleeve. Nine tubes (13A-131) (Fig. 6, not shown) may be provided. The apparatus may be made of polythene, polypropylene, unplasticised P.V.C., stainless steel or mild steel and may be used for aeration of sewage and fresh water where there is no natural flow circulation.
