1518832 Safety devices in lifting apparatus DEMAG AG 18 Sept 1975 [16 April 1975] 38368/75 Heading B8H Lifting apparatus includes a motor 3 winding a rope 4 passing over a load pulley 5 and anchored at a cable traverse 7. Strain gauges 10a, b, c, d provide a continuous signal indicating deformation of the material of the traverse when the apparatus is under load, the motor 3 being cut-out when the signal indicates that the load exceeds a predetermined value. A single strain gauge may be used (not shown) and the term "strain gauge" is to be taken to include any device producing an electrical signal continuously indicative of the deformation of the part of the lifting apparatus to which it is attached.
