Abstract

1515848 Cable insulation BICC Ltd 12 Sept 1975 [13 Sept 1974] 40038/75 Heading H1A A supertension cable in which the dielectric is at least partly built from tapes of a polyethylene or polypropylene layer 12 bonded to one or two paper layers 13 is impregnated with a fluid of 40-90% (vol.) polydiorganosiloxamer and 60-10% (vol.) of one or more alkylated benzenes. The paper layers of the tape are preferably #80 Ám. thick, preferably #50 Ám. thick in the inner part of the dielectric and may be loaded with aluminium oxide or similar materials. Preferred fluids are polydimethylsiloxamer and dodecyl benzene.
