Abstract

1515820 Electric couplings AMP Inc 14 Jan 1977 01468/77 Heading H2E An electrical connector 1 for connecting planar I.C. substrates 2 to a printed circuit board (not shown) comprises a hollow insulating housing carrying a plurality of terminals 15 (Fig. 4) each having a depending post 16 for connection in a hole in a p.c.b., and two contact fingers 19, 20, extending in the opposite sense and provided with contact portions which engage edge contacts 3 of two substrates 2 lying at different planes. As shown the terminals 15 are disposed in the walls of a square housing, and the posts 16 may depend at either of two positions. Both fingers 19, 20 are resilient, the finger 20 having a bend 22 to increase its resilience. The substrates may rest on members 9, and a lid 26 with locating pins 25 may be provided. Spaces are provided between certain terminals to allow for the passage of cooling air.
