Abstract
1515749 Overload release mechanisms WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 29 Sept 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 39744/75 Heading H1N A manually operable multi-pole switch 9 associated with a thermal overload tripping device 11 has a contact-opening mechanism comprising a releasable arm 25 latched in an opening in a pivoted L-shaped latch lever 37 which is itself latched in an opening in a pivoted latch retainer lever 39, the latter being biased by a spring towards the latching position and engaged at its lower end by a trip-plate 55 Operation of the trip device moves trip-plate 55 to the left and consequently rotates lever 39 clockwise about pivot 45, thus releasing latch lever 37 for anti-clockwise rotation about its pivot 41 under the action of releasable arm 25 which is urged in a clockwise direction about its pivot 27 by a spring-loaded toggle mechanism 23 which opens the contacts. The latch lever 39 then comes to rest against a bent over portion 69 on the latch retainer lever 39, in which position a projection 63 bent out from the opening 43 is in a position whereby it can be engaged by the roller 59 on the end of the releasable arm for relatehing.
