Abstract

1515686 Land drainage mat FODERVAVNADER AB 14 Nov 1975 47024/75 Heading E1C A drainage mat comprises two porous webs 1, 1a of woven flexible material resistant to salts, acids etc., present in the ground interwoven through one another to form a plurality of adjacent parallel tubes 2, each tube being filled solid bodies of heat-insulating material. The cross sectional area of each body being many times greater than that of the pores of the webs. The web may be of synthetic fibres or be a net of non-corrosive metal threads and the filling may be of plastics material balls or light clinker. The tubes may be sealed at each end. The tubes at the edges of the mat may be made smaller so that adjacent mats may overlap. The drainage mats may be used in a vertical position beside foundations e.g. of a building (Fig. 2, not shown) or horizontally e.g. under a causeway (Fig. 3, not shown).
