Abstract
1515345 Stuffer crimper INDIAN HEAD INC 22 May 1975 [31 May 1974] 34582/77 Divided out of 1515344 Heading D1F A stuffer crimper comprises a first housing member mounting a crimping chamber and pivotally attached to a second housing member, and a feed roll mounted on each housing member to form a nip to feed yarn to the chamber, the pivotal attachment comprising ears on one housing member flanking a portion of the other housing member, a member in each ear rotatable about an axes and each having a recess offset from the respective axis, two recesses in the housing member portion each opposing a respective recess in a rotatable member, and two members each engaged in the respective opposed recesses to form the pivotal attachment, the rotation of the members in the ears reorienting the housing pivot axes and thereby altering the feed roll alignment. In a stuffer crimper, Fig. 1, crimping chamber 26 is fed with yarn by rolls 68, 70. Roll 68 is mounted on housing 18 pivotable upwards about pivot 20 to open the roll nip. Pivot 20, Fig. 24, comprises balls supporting housing 18 on ears 350, 352 of housing 12. Members 364, 380 having ball-locating conical recesses are rotatable in the ears about axes 366, 390 offset from the recesses to adjust the orientation of housing pivot axis 412 and roll 68. Axes 366, 390 are offset as shown in Fig. 25.
