Abstract
1515341 Drip-retardant compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 7 May 1975 [3 June 1974] 19154/75 Heading C3R A drip - retardant composition comprises (a) a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of from 0À2 to 2À5 dl./g. and (b) from 0À1 to 10% by weight, based on the composition, of a Group IIA metal hydroxide, alkoxide, aryloxide or sulphide. The composition may also contain conventional reinforcing fillers, e.g. glass fibres and/or conventional flame retardants, e.g. antimony trioxide, decabromodiphenyl ether or a polycarbonate derived from bisphenol A and tetrabromobisphenol A. The Examples describe compositions comprising polybutylene terephthalate and/or polyethylene terephthalate and calcium hydroxide.
