Abstract

1515282 Random number generators C F McCRORY 10 April 1975 [2 April 1974] 14518/74 Heading G4D A random number selector comprises a multi-stage counter 10a-n counting between preselected minimum and maximum values from a clock pulse generator 11 started by a push button 25 and stopped by a voltage applied at 32. The generator operates at 15kHz; the stopping voltage may be applied by a switch having an unpredictable time delay such as one with a suction holding device with an air leak. The counter counts up to a value set by switches 16a-n whereupon it is reset to a lower value set on switches 15a-n, repeatedly. A switch 33 provides zero setting. The oscilator 11 using feedback around a gate 12 may be replaced by a similar oscilator (Fig. 2a, not shown) which produces a 15kHz pulse train interrupted at intervals by much longer pulses whereby some numbers will be displayed by the counter display 14a-n during the selection process.
