Abstract
1514096 Gas turbine ducted fan engines ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd 1 Feb 1977 [5 Feb 1976] 04531/76 Headings F1C and F1J In a gas turbine ducted fan engine comprising a row of fan rotor blades 14, a row of auxiliary rotor blades 16 is mounted on the fan rotor 12, the auxiliary fan blades being enshrouded and being of less radial extent than the main fan blades 14, each auxiliary blade being disposed so as to lie downstream of the space between two main fan blades 14. The object of the invention is to provide some compression of the air passing to the engine compressor 11, the inner postion of the main fan blades providing little or no compression. Auxiliary stator blades may similarly be provided downstream of main stator blades.
