1513629 Phosphorus containing piperidine derivatives CIBA-GEIGY AG 16 Dec 1976 [19 Dec 1975 2 Nov 1976] 52488/76 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Novel phosphorus compounds have the formula in which X is H, O, C 1-12 alkyl, C 3-6 alkenyl, C 3-4 alkynyl, C 2-21 alkoxyalkyl, C 7-8 aralkyl, 2,3-epoxypropyl, C 1-4 aliphatic carboxylic acyl, -CH 2 COOR 1 , -CH 2 CH(R 2 )OR 3 , -COOR 4 or -CONHR 4 ; R 1 is C 1-12 alkyl, C 3-6 alkenyl, phenyl, C 7-8 aralkyl, or cyclohexyl; R 2 is H, methyl or phenyl; R 3 is H, or an aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or alicyclic C 1-18 carboxylic acid in which the aromatic moeity may be substituted with Cl, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-8 alkoxy and/or OH, or a group of formula R 4 is C 1-12 alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or benzyl; Y is a bivalent radical selected from R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 independently are H, C 1-8 alkyl or C 1-5 hydroxyalkyl; R 9 and R 10 independently are H, C 1-8 alkyl, C 1-5 hydroxyalkyl, or C 1-4 carboxylic acyl or R 9 and R 10 together with the C atom to which they are bound form cyclohexyl, cyclohex-3-ene or bicyclo - [2,2,1] - hept - 5 - ene; R 11 and R 12 independently are H, C 1-9 alkyl, C 5-8 cycloalkyl a C 7-9 aralkyl and Y 1 is selected from the groups of Formula II, III and IV above. The compounds are prepared by reacting the appropriate 4 - hydroxy - piperidine compound with the corresponding halo cyclic phosphite compound. The compounds are used for stabilizing organic polymers.
