Abstract

1513478 Lubricating MAN DESIGN CO LTD 20 Jan 1976 [4 April 1975] 2130/76 Heading F2A [Also in Division F1] Lubricating oil in the bottom of the closed casing 12 of an electromagnetically operated compressor is raised to a reservoir 122 by the flow of suction gas entering the casing through a tube 112. The tube 112 connects with a vertically extending tube 118 having a lower opening 116 below the oil surface 114 and an upper opening 120 positioned above the reservoir 122. Because the pressure at the opening 116 is higher than at the opening 120 oil flows upwardly with the suction gas and drips into the reservoir 122. The reservoir 122 is formed above a closure 62 of a delivery chamber 58 in a main body 36, the latter also defining a bore 34 for a reciprocable pumping piston 72. Oil collecting in the reservoir 122 is warmed by compressed gas in the chamber 58 to expel dissolved gas and flows along channels 124, 125 in the main body 36 to the grooved outer surface of the piston 72. Reciprocation of the piston 72 is produced by an armature 86 co-axially fixed thereto and caused to perform a suction stroke by the AC energisation, via a half-wave rectifier (94), of coils 90. The pumping stroke is performed by a spring 102.
