Abstract

151,323. August, J. R. C. June 17, 1919. Muffle furnaces; indicators.-In connexion with a furnace for the heat treatment of steel of thekind comprising a muffle 2 removably arranged within a concentric outer casing 1 and spaced therefrom by radial partitions forming flues 3 for the heating-gases, means for indicating when the steel under treatment reaches the temperature of recalescence are provided, consisting of a coil 14 carrying a current, and having a galvanometer or other like instrument included in the circuit. The furnace may be fired either by a gas or liquidfuel burner 17 as shown, or from a solid-fuel firegrate, and the heating-gases pass to and fro along the flues formed by the radial partitions. Specifications 112,894 and 118,732, [both in Class 72, Iron &c.], and 146,673 are referred to.
