Abstract

1513232 Pivot couplings with friction restraint PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 Feb 1977 [11 Feb 1976] 5097/77 Heading E2F A coupling designed for the pivotal interconnection of two members (e.g. 19 and 21) comprises a housing 3, an inner body 5 pivotably received within the housing, and a sleeve 15 which screws onto a portion 11 of the housing formed with longitudinal slots to apply frictional restraint between the housing and the body 5. An upper portion of the sleeve 15 engages an upper edge of the portion 11 to force that portion resiliently inwards. Preferably housing 3 is formed of polycarbonate, body 5 of aluminium and/or glass reinforced polycarbonate, and sleeve 15 of glass reinforced polyamide. As shown housing 3 carries a member 19 about a further pivot 17 and body 5 screws into member 21.
