Abstract

1512035 Everting tubular articles READYSEAL Ltd 5 Aug 1976 [5 Aug 1975] 32625/75 Heading DIX [Also in Divisions B2 B5 and F2] A pipeline 10A, 10B, e.g. for gas transmission, is lined, e.g. to repair a leak, with a layer of synthetic resin 20 and a flexible tube 22 by applying uncured resin 20 to the pipeline interior, everting the flexible tube 22 into the pipeline so as to trap the resin 20, and then curing the resin. The resin 20 may be continuously applied by a rotary spray unit 12 and the tube 22 continuously applied by liquid, e.g. water, pressure. The resin 20 is preferably urethane and the tube 22 of polyurethane or nylon film, the resin and the tube preferably bonding together, although the tube 22 may be removed after curing of the resin 20. A felt layer, e.g. polyurethane, may be laminated with the tube 22 so that after eversion along with the tube 22 it lies between the pipeline 10A, 10B and the tube and becomes impregnated with resin. A vertical concrete pipe (Fig. 2, not shown) may be lined by everting a laminated tube from below under air pressure with a pool of resin lying on top of it. The felt layer may be separate and prepositioned. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1449455.
