Abstract

1511652 Salts of maleic anhydride/diisobutylene copolymers ALBRIGHT & WILSON Ltd 30 June 1975 [1 April 1974] 14416/74 Heading C3P The invention comprises water-soluble partial or complete alkali metal, ammonium or organic amine salts of maleic anhydride/diisobutylene copolymers having molecular weight characteristics (all M.W.'s being expressed as polystyrene equivalent M.W.'s in tetrahydrofuran) defined by either of the two following means: (A) the mode M.W. is in the range 5000-11,000 and the ratio Mw/Mn is not greater than 2À4; or (B) the mean M.W. is in the range 8000- 12,000, there being present no more than 12 wt. per cent of material of M.W. above 20,000 and no more than 2 wt. per cent of material of M.W. above 35,000. Use.-As pigment dispersants in waterbased paints.
