1511205 Bearings DEUTSCHE STAR KUGELHALTER GmbH 9 Feb 1977 [12 Feb 1976] 05364/77 Heading F2A A rectilinear motion bearing with recirculating rolling elements comprises a sleeve-shaped guide element which is divded in the axial direction to facilitate assembly and which comprises webs 17, 18 extending from end portions 23; and axially extending angle sectional elements 37 disposed between the ends 23 of the guide member, each sectional element having a first arm directed radially outwardly and at least one second arm 29, 31 projecting in the peripheral direction, each web extending around a respective second arm or arms while that surface 25 of the said arm which faces the shaft serves as a track for the rolling elements in the loaded guide portions of the guide paths, each second arm engaging by its free longitudinal edge in an axially extending groove in the respective adjacent guide element web. The webs also define the peripheral surfaces 21 of the loaded guide portions. The curved portions connecting the loaded and the unloaded guide portions are formed in the ends 23 of the guide element. The sectional elements may have additional peripherally extending arms 33, 35, the arms of adjacent elements abutting to enclose the bearing. Alternatively the radially outer portions of the webs may have peripheral extensions which surround the unloaded guide portions, or the webs and sectional elements may be enclosed in a metal sleeve. The halves of the guide element may be provided with interfitting projections 59 and recesses 61, and the halves may be bonded or welded together. The surfaces 25 may have axially extending grooves in which are engaged ribs projecting radially from the webs (Figs. 4, 5 and 7, not shown). Instead of profiling the ends 55 of the sectional elements to form part of the curved end portions of the paths, separate rings may be inserted.
