Abstract

1510953 Priming leather BAYER AG 23 Feb 1977 [28 Feb 1976 28 May 1976] 07575/77 Heading B2E Leather is primed with an aqueous dispersion of an oligourethane free from isocyanate groups, having a molecular weight of from 30 to 20,000 and containing 5 to 120 milliequivalents of cationic groups or groups convertible thereto per 100 g. of solids. The dispersion may contain a brilliant basic dye and, preferably, no cross-linking agent. A watermiscible organic liquid may be present and the dispersion may be applied by brush, plush roller or spray in amount 30-300 g/m<SP>2</SP>. Numerous suitable oligourethanes are listed. The leather may previously be tanned or retanned with vegetable, synthetic or resin tanning agents and after drying e.g. at 50-70‹C and ironing polishing and/or frictioning a top dye dressing may be applied.
