Abstract

1506719 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines L PINTER 30 Oct 1975 [19 Nov 1974] 50116/74 Heading F1F Apparatus for charging an inflatable article e.g. a boat, with compressed air comprises a motor operated by the exhaust-gases of a motor vehicle and driving a rotary air-compressor, which may be of the sliding-vane type wherein the vanes are disposed non-radially in a rotor 32. The motor too may be of the sliding-vane type and have its rotor 12 connected to the rotor 32 by a shaft 14 to which a thumb wheel 60 is secured to facilitate starting. When the apparatus is in use a gas-inlet sleeve 62 and an air-outlet sleeve are connected by hoses, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), to the exhaustpipe of the vehicle and the inlet valve of the inflatable article. A filter 50 may be lodged in the inlet of the compressor. The spent exhaust-gases escape through a port 28.
