Abstract
The surfaces of inorganic solids which have reactive hydroxyl groups, for chemical surface modification by silanes, are reacted in the presence of catalysts and the absence of moisture with alkylalkoxysilanes, arylalkoxysilanes or aralkylalkoxysilanes which are substituted by functional groups, preferably in a omega position.
