Abstract

1505896 Spray-producers SOC DES PLASTIQUES BRENEZ SARL 12 June 1975 [29 Nov 1974] 25257/75 Heading B2F A spray head for an atomization dispenser suitable for spraying liquids or powders comprises a first part 9 mounted on the dispenser body, said first part having a central frustoconical portion 13, a depending skirt 15 which is threaded for engagement with a bottle 16 serving as a reservoir for the spray material, and a transverse upper portion provided with two orifices 20, one of which communicate with a tube 22 extending into the bottle; a second part 10 of frusto-conical shape mounted on top of the frusto-conical portion of the first part and having an outlet 23 for discharging the spray material; and a third part 11, also of frusto-conical shape, mounted on the first part and surrounding the second part and the frusto-conical portion of the first part, said third part having a spraying aperture 34 and being spaced from the first and second parts to form an air passageway 25 which communicates with the interior of the dispenser body via orifices 26 in the first part of the spray head, said first part also having an annular groove 17 communicating with the air passageway and defined by a wall 19 which is at least partly flexible and is capable of shutting off the communication of the air passageway with the interior of the dispenser. The dispenser body comprises two tubes 1, 2 and a valve 4, the tubes being slidably movable relative to one another to act as an air-compression pump. During the compression stroke, compressed air passes through the valve and into the interior of the dispenser body where it acts upon the resilient walls of the bottle 16 and forces spray material via the tube 22 and the orifice 20 to the outlet 23 where it is discharged in the form of a hollow jet, said jet being atomized by air arriving via the orifices 26 and the passage 25. When the pressure ceases, the flexible wall 19 bears against a skirt portion 27 on the third part 11, thereby eliminating all communication between the air passage 25 and the interior of the dispenser body. Any droplets flowing down the inner walls of the spray head accumulate in the groove 17 and are thus prevented from coming into contact with the internal walls of the tubes 1 and 2; a bevelled edge 28 on the skirt 27 helps to direct the droplets into the groove.
