Abstract
1505086 Parachutes SAAB-SCANIA AB 14 Oct 1975 [15 Oct 1974] 41915/75 Heading B7G A stabilizing parachute 6 for an ejector seat 1 is extracted by a drogue parachute 5 and/or a weight 9 connected to the crown of the parachute 6 by a line 7. The rigging lines 10 connect at 12 to a harness 13 and a further line 11, of such length that it is tensioned before parachute 6 is fully deployed, connects the crown to the connection 12. The line 11 is passed through a crown vent 15 in the canopy of parachute 5 and is formed into a loop 25 round an eye 14 on line 7 and a connection 16 formed by four of the lines 10, the loop 25 being completed by stitching 22 which forms a seam extending in the direction of the length of the line 11. The arrangement is such that during initial extraction the stitching in loop 25 withstands the load imposed on it by parachute 5 but when parachute 6 becomes inflated the additional load imposed on the line 11 and loop 25 causes the stitching to part and the loop to split open thereby freeing the parachute 5 and/or weight 9.
