1504696 Two-part couplings RIST'S WIRE & CABLES Ltd 18 April 1975 [1 May 1974] 19082/74 Heading H2E The parts of a two-part coupling are releasably secured together by means of a projection 41 extending from a wall of the body of each part engaging a slot 42 in the opposite wall of the body of each part, the shape of the projections and slots being such that during interengagement the walls of each slot are initially flexed apart but subsequently flex back towards their original positions to resist withdrawal of the projections. Identical parts 11, 12 each have a diamond-shape projection 41 and slot 42 in opposite walls 23a, 23b, 24a, 24b which constitute a shroud in two halves for each part. Walls 23b, 24b slide within walls 24a, 23a and enter a clearance 25 with edges of walls 23a, 24a constituting mutually bearing ramps 31, 33, 32, (34, not shown) as well as being chamfered at 35, (36) respectively. Each part comprises a casing 19 in which are releasably stacked contact carriers 16-18 holding hermaphrodite terminals (Fig. 5, not shown), projections in the carrier resiliently engaging apertures (14a) in the terminals. The walls 23b, 24b may be slit (43, Fig. 4) each side of the projection, the latter comprising a narrow extension (45) such that the wall may be flexed between the slits to bring the extension (45) into alignment with the slot to facilitate withdrawal.
