Abstract

1503582 Electrostatic precipitators APPARATEBAU ROTHEMUHLE BRANDT & KRITZLER 14 May 1975 [20 May 1974] 20442/75 Heading B2J A multistage horizontal gas flow electrostatic precipitator has dust collection pockets 11 at the base of an upper stage 2 for receiving dust collected from collector electrodes associated with rapper apparatus (10) Fig. 2 (not shown); and dust passages 12 leading from the pockets 11 to a dust exit bunker 5, the passages 12 extending downwardly through a lower stage 3, the bunker 5 receiving also dust deposited from the collector electrodes 13 of the lower stage, which latter electrodes are also provided with rapper apparatus (16). As shown the electrodes 13 are hollow with closed vertical ends, and each pocket 11 communicates with the interior of a respective electrode, the said interiors thus constituting the dust passages. The gas flow may be divided in one direction through the upper stage 2 and in the opposite direction through the lower stage 3, whereby the loading along the pockets 11 and on the bunker 5 is made more uniform.
