Abstract

1502947 Monitoring flow in seed or fertilizer drills W B BARTON 28 April 1975 [17 May 1974] 22133/74 Heading AID [Also in Division G1] A mechanical seed or fertilizer drill has a plurality of separate paths along which seeds or fertilizer granules pass from a supply to a plurality of discharge points. The drill incorporates a flow monitoring device for monitoring the continuous flow of particulate material e.g. seed 14 along a tube 12 through which the seed flows, a plurality of photoelectric, capacitive or ultrasonic sensor 16 one in each said path providing electric signals to a respective transistor TR2 each time a seed passes which signals act via respective transistor circuit on a warning device e.g. relay-controlled lamp L and horn 32 to provide an indication of cessation of flow of seed. The sensor signal, in each case, is delayed by an RC circuit Cl, VR1 which prevents actuation of the warning device unless the time elapsed from the last signal received exceeds a given value. Preferably each circuit has a lamp L but only a single horn need be provided.
