Abstract

1502764 Distributer plate for a fluidized bed furnace; burners for fluidized beds BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 14 March 1975 [11 April 1974] 16140/74 Headings F4B and F4T For use in a fluidized bed furnace, where a combustible mixture of air and fuel is blown through a bed of refractory particulate material to fluidize the bed and burn within it, there is provided a distributer plate comprising coaxial air supply tubes 3 and 4 with outlets in the form of lateral passageways 9 and 6 and an oil supply tube 8. Oil flowing from the tube 8 is entrained by the air flow through tube 3. Oil supply is through a chamber 2. Air supply is through tubes 7 and a chamber 10. In use, the bed is preheated by propane supplied through a chamber 1, holes 11 and tube 4. After suitable operating conditions have been reached, the propane supply is gradually reduced and the oil feed supply switched in. (For Figure see next column.)
