Abstract

1501904 Tractor/trailer braking ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 28 April 1975 [15 May 1974] 17482/75 Heading F2F A multi-circuit protective valve assembly 5 for multi-circuit brake systems having a plurality of circuits at least two of which are service brake circuits and at least one of which is an auxiliary circuit (for operation of a tipper, for instance) and comprising a plurality of valves, a first group of valves 31 and 32 having a common inlet and separate outlets, a second group 29 and 30 having separate inlets and outlets, the common inlet 33 being connected to a source such as the pump 2 and the outlets 34 and 37 of the first group being connected to reservoirs 6 and 7 which supply air to respective circuitsÀI and II. The inlets 35 and 38 of the second group are connected downstream of the reservoirs 6 and 7 and the outlets 36, 39 of the second group supply trailer braking circuit III and auxiliary circuit IV respectively. In the embodiment described a parking brake valve 11 is also included in the brake system incorporating protective valve 5, operating spring applied parking brakes 12 and 13 via relay valve 17. The trailer brakes are supplied via coupling heads 15 and 20 controlled by trailer brake control valve 18. Each of the valves in the assembly has a closure member biased against a seat by a spring, the valve opening on the attainment of a given pressure upstream of the valve.
