Abstract
1501117 Water heating boilers TRIANCO Ltd 15 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 21933/74 Heading F4A A water heating boiler fired by a gas or oil burner 2 is provided with a silencer 15 in its exhaust duct which acts both to reduce noise and to create a positive back pressure against which the boiler is fired; the silencer includes a perforated sleeve 16 (surrounded by soundabsorbing and thermally insulating material 18, e.g. glass fibre) through which the flue gases pass and the gases are directed through rightangled turns as they move from combustion chamber to outlet. The boiler shown is wall mounted with a balanced flue arrangement passing through the wall 10 and water is contained in the double walls of an enclosure 1 and in one or more water-filled projections 7. Combustion air enters through opening 13 and at the end of sleeve 16 the flue gases are turned at right-angles to exit through side ports 20; a perforated plate 22 backed with glass fibre 23 extending opposite the sleeve 16. A flue gas baffle 24 is mounted level with the silencer sleeve and comprises a rectangular perforated casing 25 filled with glass fibre 26 and flue gases are directed over three sides of this baffle. In a modified form the flue terminal with silencer can extend vertically upwardly above baffle 24 and an opening 29 closed by a plate 30 is provided for this purpose. A removable outer casing 28 is provided and this may be weatherproof if the boiler is to be mounted on an outside wall.
