Abstract

1501068 Desalinization distillation/steam power plant N AZHARI 9 July 1976 [12 July 1975] 28729/76 Heading BIB A combined desalinization/steam power plant comprises a multistage flash evaporator 3, a steam turbine 27 and associated boiler 26 driving an electric-generator 28 and a compressor 16 and a falling-film evaporator 14. A mixture of seawater and concentrated brine which has previously passed through the plant is passed from the cooling coils 10 of the flash evaporator, if necessary via an auxiliary heater 12 heated by steam from the turbine, to the falling-film evaporator 14 wherein part is evaporated and the resulting vapour compressed in the compressor 16 and fed to the heating chamber 43 of 14, if necessary after mixing with cooling water at 18, to provide heat for the evaporation therein. Water condensing in the heating chamber is fed to the distillate trays 21 of the multistage flash evaporator 10 via line 19 and unevaporated brine from 43 is fed to the flash evaporator via line 20 and evaporated therein under reduced pressure produced by steam ejector 36.
