Abstract

1498301 Active dried yeast DISTILLERS CO (YEAST) Ltd 13 Aug 1976 [22 Aug 1975] 34861/75 Heading C6F In drying moist yeast particles in a fluidized bed to produce powdered active dried yeast, the particles are subjected to disintegration forces while they are fluidized, such disintegration forces being applied continuously or intermittently throughout most at least of the time the dry matter content of the yeast is from 50 to 70 wt per cent, and being sufficient to prevent any substantial increase in particle size but insufficient to break the yeast cells themselves. The moist yeast particles may have been made by milling, spray drying or extrusion. The drying method is otherwise broadly similar to that described in Specification No. 1498302.
