Abstract
1497864 Pressurized tyre repairing compositions THREE BOND CO Ltd 18 Nov 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 49731/74 Heading C4X [Also in Division C3] A pressurized composition for repairing punctures of a tyre tube or tubeless tyre having an air valve thereon by being transported into the punctured tube or tyre through the air valve thereof so as to rapidly seal puncture holes of the tube or tyre from the inside thereof consists essentially of (a) 10-30% by weight of carboxyl modified acrylonitrile rubber latex, (b) 3-12% by weight of polybutene emulsion, (c) 0À1-0À3% by weight of a surfactant, (d) 5-10% by weight of a freezing point depressant, (e) 50-65% by weight of a propellant and (t) balance of water. The propellant used has a vapour pressure of at least 1 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> at 25‹ C., is non-flammable and chemically inert. A suitable propellant is a mixture of dichlorodifluoromethane and propane. The water is preferably purified water having a pH of 7 Œ0À2 and an electrical resistance of 300,000 #-cm. The freezing point depressant may be ethylene glycol and the surfactant a mixture of a non-ionic and anionic surfactant, e.g. polyoxyethylenenonylphenyl-ether and sodium alkylbenzene-sulphonate.
