Abstract

1497769 Magnetic separators KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 18 June 1976 [20 June 1975] 25431/76 Heading B2J Material to be magnetically separated is passed in a fluent medium successively through zones of a single magnetic field, the magnetic field in each zone exceeding that in the previous zone, thereby separating at each pass material of decreasing susceptibility. In Fig. 2 a magnet 41 is surrounded by coaxial annular channels 42, 43, 44. Material to be separated is fed first to outermost channel 44, i.e. the channel in the weakest part of the magnetic field, where more susceptible material is deflected towards the magnet 41 and collected at 56 whereas the remainder is taken by pipe 54 to the adjacent channel 43 where the process is repeated followed by similar processing in channel 42. In Figure 3 (not shown) the material to be recycled from the first channel is fed upwards in the second channel. In Fig. 4 (not shown) only two channels are used but the first has three divided outlets two of which are collected and the outermost outlet is connected to the top of the second channel.
