Abstract
149,774. Cloudesley, J. L. May 19, 1919. Osciliating trays.-A drying- apparatus comprises a series of superposed convex trays on a single oscillatable carrier and a series of intercalated concave trays provided with central orifices for discharge of material to the successive convex trays, with or without means for oscillating the concave trays. As shown, a shaft 11, Fig. 1, carries a series of circular trays 21 sloping downwards to the edges 22 which are flat and intercalated with reversely sloped annular trays 19 secured to a cylinder carried by a collar 13 resting on a spring 14. The collar supports a shoulder 12 formed on 'the shaft, the lower end of which rests in a bore 15 in a pedestal. The shaft at its upper end extends through a feed hopper, and is formed with a pin 24 resting on a forked end of a lever 26, Fig. 3, the other end of which is anchored by means of a spring connexion 31 and is tapped at intervals, giving a reciprocating motion to the lever and shaft, by a wheel comprising two disks with a series of rollers 30 trunnioned therein; a cam or toothed wheels may replace this device. Alternatively, the upper end of the shaft is given a circular movement. The top plate 19 is dished. and co-acts with the top tray 21 to initiate the movement of the material. In a modification, the concave trays are rigidly secured to the central shaft, and the convex trays resiliently supported against collars thereon.
