Abstract

1497294 Locks NEIMAN SA 28 Feb 1975 [5 March 1974] 8453/75 Heading E2A [Also in Division F1B] In a key operated anti theft device where means locks a part of the engine, transmission or steering, a safety device prevents the engine &c being locked whilst the engine is running. The safety device comprises a locking plunger 10 biased by spring 11 into engagement with a cam 13, the cam being located on the rotor operated by key 2. The plunger 10 is withdrawn from the cam by an electromagnet 12 supplied via an oil pressure switch 15, (opened under oil pressure from the engine when running) and switch 4 operated by the rotor. The projection 37 is arranged to operate, between off and on positions, a decompression or a fuel control device 33 from a remote control 38 dependent on direction of rotation of the cam. Under normal conditions cam rotation in direction F2 moves the device 33 so as to stop the engine. Switch 4 is in the closed position and switch 15 closes when the engine stops. This withdraws the plunger clear of cam face step 13' and allows the cam to be rotated to the 'locked' position. If the engine fails to stop, the plunger is not withdrawn and the cam cannot be returned. In the OFF position, switch 4 opens to release the plunger to rest on the cam surface. Actuation of the cam in the direction Fl causes the engine lock to be released, switch 4 closed and the plunger withdrawn, lever 33 to move to the engine operable position and finally the engine to start. Rising oil pressure then opens switch 15 and the plunger engages the cam in the protecting position.
