Abstract
1495983 Springs K HARTMANN 23 Dec 1974 [22 Dec 1973] 55456/74 Heading F2S [Also in Division E1] A structural element made of an elastomer comprises at least one flange 1, 2 joined to at least one web 3 which is of a corrugated form. The corrugations may be rectangular 3a, zig-zag 3b, or semicircular which may have portions of reverse curvature at each crest and trough 3c. The crest line may be perpendicular to the flanges, Fig. 1, or at an angle, Fig. 2 or Fig. 3, where the element is in the form of a U-section which may be bent to form a circle as a reinforcement for a deflated vehicle tyre. The web may have transverse ribs extending between the flanges, or the web may comprise two lines of staggered pillars. A flange may also be corrugated. Elements may be used in vibrating conveyers or shoots, as shock absorbing floor plates, or as a fender.
