Abstract

1495130 Dial illumination AKATOH 4 June 1976 23304/76 Heading F4R [Also in Divisions H3 and G1] An indicator dial, e.g. for audio equipment or radio receivers, comprises a single bulb holder 3 which is arranged to transmit light into the edge of a dial plate 1 to illuminate markings thereon and also to transmit a beam L in front of the plate where it is intercepted and deflected into the eye by a movable index finger 6 having a 45 degree reflecting plane 7. As shown, the dial has an offset end portion where the bulb holder is provided. The bulb holder has a slit 5 to produce the beam L. In another arrangement, the slit is on the side of the holder remote from the dial and light is reflected back towards the index finger by a plane mirror (18) (Fig. 3, not shown) mounted on a casing of the equipment. The dial has an opaque rear surface of metal, paper or synthetic resin and the bulb holder has an internal or external reflective surface. The transparent part of the dial and the prismatic index finger are of acrylic resin.
