Abstract
1494875 Plant shelter C J C BRUYANT 10 Feb 1975 [12 Feb 1974] 14477/75 Heading E1A [Also in Division A1] A shelter for plants is formed by a plurality of arcuate frames axially spaced and supporting a covering comprising two laterally adjacent sheets of limp material (f). A plurality of the frames are constituted by at least two arcuate members (a) joined together by securing means (b). Each such means joins each arcuate member to its adjacent member so as to allow the covering sheets which extend over at least one of the members (a) of each frame to be pulled together tensioned and held in place by adjusting the securing means or devices slidably mounted on the framing members. Preferably the frames have three arcuate members and rotation of the securing devices causes at least two of the members extending over the covering sheets to urge overlapped sheets downwardly. Alternatively strings with looped ends sliding on the arcuate members urge the covering material down between the members (Figs. 6, 7) not shown. The arcuate members of the frames may be rods or tubes of metal, plastics or wood and may normally be rectilinear, being bowed only when positioned for use. Each member may be the same length or those extending over the covering may be shorter. Longer arcuate members may be formed in two parts joined end to end so that the parts may be disconnected and swing to one side to allow access for a cultivator. The end frames may have only two interconnected hoops.
