1494194 Pressing fibrous surface layer on to refractory brick D A J PATTERSON and T A WILLIAMS 7 Feb 1975 [8 Nov 1973] 51840/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division F4] A refractory brick, slab or tile is produced by pressing in a mould a refractory mix and a sheet of refractory inorganic fibrous material (having a thickness of from “ mm. to 1 mm.) interposed between the mix and mould, so that the mix is at least partly faced by the sheet. Aluminosilicate fibres in paper form are placed against a perforated metal mould wall, and pressed with a clay, alumina, silica, magnesia or chromite mix. Water, liquid and binders in the mix pass through the paper to the mould perforations, so that the paper is incorporated on the face of the mix after drying or firing.
