Colour scales.-In apparatus, according to the parent Specification, for finding harmonious colour combinations, the circular colour chart is replaced by a rectangular chart a and the rotating indicator by a sliding indicator b. The. chart a is divided horizontally into 24 divisions covering the whole range of colours, and each colour has associated with it in a vertical column the shades obtained by combining it with grey, white, or black in different proportions. The indicator shown in Fig. 1 comprises a flat endless band passing over rollers h, i and divided into horizontal strips bearing numbers which are so arranged that the distance between consecutive numbers, for example, is half the length of the chart so that these numbers are opposite complementary colours. The endless band may be replaced by a sliding strip, the length of which is twice that of the chart, and this strip may be foldable along its centre line. The indicator may be stationary and the chart movable, the length of the chart being in this case twice that of the indicator.
