Abstract

1493074 Device for retaining trailors on vehicle transporters SOC NOUVELLE DES ATELIERS DE VENISSIEUX 19 March 1975 [30 April 1974] 11516/75 Heading E2B The socket (not shown) of a joint (e.g. of a caravan) is connected to the platform 15 of a trailer (e.g. a railway truck by a device comprising a shaft 6 having a ball 7 for receiving the socket the ball and shaft being rotatably mounted in a baseplate 1 of a housing, the end of the shaft remote from the ball 7 being provided with a lug 9 insertable in a hole 12 in the platform in one position of rotation of the shaft (chain lines, Fig. 1), but not removable from the hole in another position. The shaft 6 is rotated by a handle 10 which may be fixed in the other position (solid lines) by a pin 16 dropped through a hole 17 in the handle 10 into a cut-out 20 in a stirrup 2 welded to the baseplate 1. The baseplate is provided with projections corresponding to further holes 12 in the platform to locate the device.
