Abstract
1492466 Feeding and delivering sheets EASTMAN KODAK CO 30 Oct 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 44995/75 Heading B8R Documents to be copied are piled in a tray 52 with the face to be copied upwards, separated in succession from the bottom of the pile, and advanced along a closed loop path so as first to be placed copy-face downwards on the exposure platen of a photocopying machine and held stationary for copying, and then to be stacked on top of the pile with the copy-face upwards. Pile supports.-The documents S are supported on a ribbed base plate 56 between adjustable side walls 55, with their leading edges F against a front wall 58 and their rear edges R spaced from a rear wall 59. Sheet separator.-The bottom document is drawn against a suction separator roller 65 having one axial row of suction posts 66, and advanced into the nip between the roller 65 and driven rollers 68, the remaining documents being restrained by the wall 58, and the roller 65 is then moved in reverse to its initial position, this being possible because the rollers 68 engage rings extending round but rotatable with respect to the roller 65. Registering sheets.-A document on the platen 2 is held stationary for copying by two registration pads 73 on a bar 74 which is thereafter retracted by a solenoid. Conveying sheets.-Separated documents are advanced along a path comprising a guide 70, the platen 2 and a guide 78, and guides 80, 83, by means of driven rollers 68, 71, 72, 85. Stacking sheets.-Documents emerging from the guide 83 are guided by a finger 88 on to the pile in the tray 52, the pile being aligned by end and side joggers 60, 61, the former being faced with a fibrous plush material 89. A member 90 on a shaft 91 rests on the pile of uncopied documents, and the stack of copied documents rests on the member 90. When all the documents have been copied, the member 90 passes downwards through an opening 92 in the plate 56 and actuates a switch, whereupon either the procedure is repeated to make further copies or the stack is removed.
