Abstract

1491459 Thin-layer chromatography H MEYER 24 Dec 1974 55756/74 Heading B1H In preparative thin-layer chromatography a sample is applied in solid form to the adsorbent layer, being dispensed in a groove therein and then compressed or compacted. Apparatus comprises a coated TLC plate 6, a bridge 8 having a slot 11 and means 12 for locating the bridge near one end of the plate. A cutting blade (Fig. 5, not shown) is run along the slot to give a groove in the coating, powdered sample is introduced into the groove via the slot in the bridge and pressed down therein. The plate is then developed conventionally.
