Abstract

1490362 Laboratory filter C J SANDERSON 6 Aug 1975 [7 Aug 1974] 34843/74 Heading B1D [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for treating liquids comprises first means 10 for receiving at least one sample to be treated, the means defining at least one sample-receiving passage 11, and second means 16 for receiving treated liquid the second means comprising at least one liquid-pervious support 19 extending across the sample-receiving passage, the first and second means 10 and 16 being adapted to be separably fitted together, the apparatus having edges capable of cutting to the shape of the support(s) a liquid treatment element such as a filter paper 27 placed between the support(s) and the sample receiving passage(s) 11 and having a surface area larger than the area of the support(s) when they are fitted together and the or each support is aligned with the sampler receiving passage(s). The apparatus may comprise a plurality of sample receiving passages in a linear or circular row, means 16 and being held together by locating pins and holes. Means 17 may be connectable to a suction line via 22. The treatment element may be a tablet of ion-exchange powder or containing absorbent powder.
