Abstract

1489028 Crystallisation apparatus with rotary scrapers E N GALPERIN A P GRYZHIN V I LOBANOV and K N KOZLOVAMARKOVA 4 June 1976 23142/76 Heading B1C Apparatus for continuous crystallisation of liquid solutions comprises, as shown in Fig. I, a hollow casing 1 having inlet and outlet pipes 2 and 3 and steam vent 4, and a horizontal rotatable shaft 6 provided with blades 7 for stirring solution in the casing and for cleaning the outer surface of a heat exchanger 8 in the form of series-connected protruding portions. Adjacent blades 7 are arranged on the shaft 6 diametrically opposite to one another. The shaft 6 is provided with scrapers 13 for discharging the product through pipe 3. A vertical transverse baffle 16 is fixed in the top part of the casing 1 and immersed in the solution to provide for the exit of steam through vent 4. A baffle 17 is provided inside the heat exchanger 8 to form a labyrinth flow path for the heat exchange fluid. Other configurations of blades and heat exchanger shapes are described, as well as a heated double-walled hollow casing 1 and a conical casing arrangement (net shown).
