Abstract

1488199 Liquid level control PYNFORD Ltd 27 Aug 1976 [11 Aug 1975 18 Aug 1975] 33366/75 and 34232/75 Heading G1H A waste water discharge system comprises a tank 1 and an electric pump 5 controlled by a contact at the end of a downwardly projecting probe 10 in a sheath 13 sealed at the top to form an air lock to keep the upper portion of the probe dry; the pump being switched on when water reaches the end of the probe. The system includes a second sheathed probe 9 in the tank which switches the pump off when the water level 18 falls below it and a probe 14 in a branch 16 of the pump outlet. The probe 10 switches the pump on for a short time and is then turned off unless probe 14 is immersed. Probe 9 may be omitted if the pump is energized for a predetermined period after either probe 10 or 14 is immersed. Sheaths 12, 13, and pipe 16 are of liquid repellant insulating material to assist in maintaining the upper portions of rods 9, 10, 14 dry and preventing short circuits.
