Abstract

1487123 Cyanato-group containing phenolic resin MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 22 July 1975 [29 July 1974 27 Feb 1975] 30673/75 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises a cyanato-group containing phenolic resin comprising a mixture of the formula where n is 0 or an integer of 1 or more, each R is H or methyl, containing 50% by weight or more in total of compounds in which n is 1 to 3, the number average molecular weight of the compounds being 350 to 700. The compounds may be prepared by reacting a cyanogen halide in an inert organic solvent in the presence of a base with compounds of the formula containing 50% by weight or more in total of compounds in which n is 1 to 3, the number average molecular weight being at least 300 and less than 600. The compounds may be mixed with a reinforcing material and cured.
