Abstract
1486715 Chromium and cobalt complexes of monoazo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 April 1976 [7 May 1975] 19129/75 Heading C4P The invention comprises complex monoazo dyes which, in the free acid form have the general Formula (I) where A<SP>1</SP> and A<SP>11</SP> are each aromatic radicals; B<SP>1</SP> and B<SP>11</SP> are each residues of coupling components which couple in the ortho or vicinal positions to D<SP>1</SP> and D<SP>11</SP> respectively; Z<SP>1</SP> and Z<SP>11</SP> are each -O- or -COO- and are attached to A<SP>1</SP> and A<SP>11</SP> respectively in the ortho-position to the azo group; D<SP>1</SP> and D<SP>11</SP> are each -O-, -NH-, -N-C 1 to C 4 alkyl- or -N- phenyl-; M is Cr or Co, and at least one of A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>11</SP>, B an B<SP>11</SP> bears one or more phosphonic acid groups. The complexes of Formula (I) may be prepared by reacting the 1 : 1-chromium or cobalt complex of either an azo compound of the Formula (2) HZ<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>1</SP>-N=N-B<SP>1</SP>-D<SP>1</SP>H or an azo compound of the Formula (3) with the other of the above azo compounds. The azo compounds of Formulµ (2) and (3) may be obtained by diazotizing an amino of the formula HZ<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>1</SP>-NH 2 or HZ<SP>11</SP>-A<SP>11</SP>-NH 2 and coupling the resulting diazo compound with HB<SP>1</SP>-D<SP>1</SP>H or HB<SP>11</SP>-D<SP>11</SP>H. The dyes of Formula (I) impart various shades to fibres of wool, silk, cotton, linen, synthetic polyamides and viscose rayon.
