Abstract
1485790 Ionization and semi-conductor smoke detectors NOHMI BOSAI KOGYO CO Ltd 8 Nov 1974 [9 Nov 1973 29 May 1974] 48505/74 Heading G1N [Also in Division G4] A fire alarm comprises two sensors, differently responsive to at least one phenomenon accompanying combustion and giving a progressive change in output signal in response to said phenomenon and a common evaluating circuit arranged so that an alarm signal is only given when the sum of changes in the output signals of the two sensors exceeds a predetermined level. In Fig. 3 one sensor is a semi-conductor CO sensitive device 90 having a heater 93 and a further electrode 92. The further sensor takes the form of a photo-electric smoke detector 12, 13. After amplification at 95, 72, 11, 76 the signals from the two sensors are combined at the collectors of transistors 72, 76 so that each tends to reduce the sensitivity of Zener diode 80. In the combined presence of adequate signals from both sensors, Zener diode 80 breaks down, so that transistor 81 turns on thyristor 7 and energizes the alarm relay 41. In Fig. 1 (not shown) a pair of ionization chambers are coupled to a FET connected in series with a junction transistor supplied with signals from a photo-electric detector. The combined outputs from the FET and junction transistor break down a Zener diode which turns on a transistor which triggers thyristor 7.
