Abstract

1485413 Latches ITW Ltd 25 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 18446/74 Heading E2A A resilient plastics latch unit Fig. 1 comprises: a button 20; a body portion 26 hinged at 32 to the button; a further body portion 24 hinged at 14 to portion 26; and a latch 16 hinged to the body portion 24; wherein, in use, Fig. 2, the body portions are folded together and inserted in a hole (not shown) e.g. in a glove-box door, in which they are retained by barbs 28, 30 and flanges 10, 12, and the button 20 is folded into the body portions to that (i) a stepped shoulder 31 of the button engages the flange 10 to prevent unfolding of the button, and (ii) a cam surface 22 of the button engages a cam surface 18 of the latch 16 to operate the latch which is biassed to bear against an abutment (not shown) in the surrounds of the glove-box door.
