Abstract

1484634 Retractive switches NORTHERN TELECOM Ltd 19 Aug 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 36383/74 Heading H1N A switch comprises a base 20 on which is a conductor pattern 21, an apertured spacer 15, an electrically conductive spring contact plate 10 having at least one contact finger 11 over the aperture, and a flexible elastomeric layer 22 deflection of which deflects finger 11 into contact with conductor pattern 21 with an outward wiping movement. As shown layer 22 may have a boss 23 which may support a pushbutton 25. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown) there is a cover (31) over the elastomeric layer supporting a plunger (34) depressible via a compression spring (36) by a pushbutton (35). In a third embodiment, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), there are a plurality of conductive layers separated by insulating layers, each conductive layer having one contact finger over each aperture, all the contact fingers over each aperture of the different layers being circumferentially spaced so the depression of the pushbutton deflects a plurality of fingers for different circuits.
